May 6, 2023 | News, Webinars

The New York State Developmental Disabilities Planning Council has generously awarded a three year grant to the National Alliance for Direct Support Professionals, The Autistic Self Advocacy Network and The Burton Blatt Institute. The importance of pride, safety, inclusion and acceptance of people who identify as LGBTQIA+ are all part of the “why” of this training. Direct support professionals who support people with intellectual and developmental disabilities have an ethical obligation to competently support those who identify as LGBTQIA+. To that end this training and these resources are being shared among NY State direct support professionals and people they support and families.
