Free Virtual LGBTQIA+Trainings: Proud & Supported -2024

May 9, 2024 | News, Webinars

The New York State Council on Developmental Disabilities has generously awarded a three year grant to the National Alliance for Direct Support Professionals, the Autistic Self Advocacy Network and the Burton Blatt Institute. In this final year, we will facilitate virtual trainings that teach direct support professionals the best practices in supporting people with intellectual and developmental disabilities who identify LGBTQIA+.

The importance of pride, safety, inclusion and acceptance of people who identify as LGBTQIA+ are all part of the “why” of this training. Direct support professionals who support people with intellectual and developmental disabilities have an ethical obligation to competently support those who identify as LGBTQIA+. For more information on this project visit the Proud and Supported website by clicking here.

This training will be presented via Zoom. ASL interpretation will be provided during the webinar.
