by | Nov 3, 2021 | News

The Institutes of Applied Human Dynamics (IAHD) is honoring Joseph Macbeth, President and Chief Executive Officer of the National Alliance for Direct Support Professionals (NADSP), with the ‘Change Maker’ Award. This designation is in recognition of his dedicated work over the course of decades to elevate the status of direct support professionals (DSPs). Macbeth will receive the ‘Change Maker’ award during the 33rd Annual Richard P. Biondi Recognition Awards, being held in November 2021.

“We are pleased to honor Joe this year.” says Omayra Andino, Chief Executive Officer of IAHD. “The work of Direct Support Professionals is often undervalued. DSPs are critical to the work that we do. NADSP gives voice to the importance of frontline staff and we owe them a debt of gratitude.”

IAHD has hosted its Annual Corporate Awards event to recognize individuals and organizations that have contributed to supporting people with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (I/DD), and other humanitarian causes. IAHD’s Annual Awards event attracts nearly 300 business leaders and decision-makers in the private and public sectors from the greater New York metropolitan area, as well as customers, family, staff and friends from the Bronx and Westchester Counties.

“Success in addressing the systemic issues facing direct support professionals requires a strategic and coordinated effort by so many stakeholders, including DSPs, people receiving services, families, provider agencies, policy groups, advocacy organizations, as well as local, state, and national governmental entities,” says Macbeth. “I’m humbled and honored to be recognized for the part that I’ve been able to play in advancing the interests of DSPs. It has truly been my career-long passion.”
