Let’s Talk: Flipping the Switch: Compassion Fatigue to Compassion Satisfaction and Psychological Safety for Direct Support Professionals

Mar 25, 2025 | Events, News, Webinars

This month’s International Journal for Direct Support Professionals article discusses compassion fatigue among direct support professionals (DSPs) and highlights the importance of self-care and resilience in the helping professions. Compassion fatigue is described as emotional and physical exhaustion resulting from prolonged exposure to others’ suffering, often leading to burnout, vicarious trauma, and secondary traumatic stress.
Lindsay Dutton (The Arc Oregon) will join John Raffaele (NADSP) on our next Let’s Talk webinar to discuss her article, “Flipping the Switch: Compassion Fatigue to Compassion Satisfaction and Psychological Safety for Direct Support Professionals.” John and Lindsay will share tools and supports that DSPs need in their essential roles in human services.

ASL interpretation and closed captions will be available during the webinar. For previous issues of The International Journal for Direct Support Professionals, click here.
