Let’s Talk: The Impact of Limited Body Awareness
This month’s International Journal for Direct Support Professionals comes from Chris Galvin. Chris is an occupational therapist with over 40 years experience in working with adults and children with a great variety of developmental challenges. In the article, Ms. Galvin speaks about the importance of body awareness for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities and the how body challenges may arise with people as they get older. She shares strategies, things to watch for and actions to take when DSPs may start to notice these challenges in the people they support. This month’s discussion will focus on physical development, challenges and strategies for supporting health and wellness when working with people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
This webinar is a companion to the March International Journal for Direct Support Professionals issue The Impact of Limited Body Awareness: What can be Done?
