Let’s Talk: Building Knowledge About Dementia and Adults with an Intellectual Disability
This month’s Let’s Talk webinar will explore working with aging populations. Our population is aging, and this includes individuals with intellectual disabilities. Advances in healthcare and community inclusion have led to greater longevity for this group. The development of a Canadian guide has provided valuable insights into the impact of dementia on people with intellectual disabilities, as well as on direct support professionals (DSPs) and family members. It’s never too soon or too late to learn and plan for quality support for these individuals. Join Leslie Udell and John Raffaele as they explore this month’s issue of the International Journal for Direct Support Professionals, which focuses on best practices for supporting individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities (ID/DD) and dementia.
Leslie Udell will discuss her article, “Building Knowledge About Dementia and Adults with an Intellectual Disability.” This live webinar is a companion to the August International Journal for Direct Support Professionals issue. ASL interpretation will be available during the webinar along with closed captions.
