May 29, 2024 | Events, News, Webinars

Due to an unforeseen circumstance, “Let’s Talk: Process-Focused Programming,” has been postponed. In place of this webinar, we will be replaying the December 2023 webinar, “The Transformative Potential of Expressive Arts Therapy.” A full description of the webinar is available below. ASL interpretation will be available along with closed captions. We apologize for the inconvenience and hope to have a rescheduled webinar date soon.

Webinar Description:
Expressive Arts Therapy (ExAT) is a therapeutic approach and intervention that encourages individuals to express themselves through various art forms such as visual arts, creative writing, drama, music, voice, and movement. The power of art goes beyond specific therapy methods like Expressive Arts Therapy. It’s rooted in the history and traditions of cultures worldwide. It’s not just a new therapy, but a timeless and widespread practice that’s been part of human societies for centuries.

This Let’s Talk webinar will explore the transformative potential of Expressive Arts Therapy (ExAT), and the power of expressive arts. Our hosts will discuss arts-based activities that can be used by direct support professionals (DSPs), with the intention of deepening supportive relationships.

NADSP Director of Educational Services, John Raffaele welcomes Virginia Jahyu of Vita Community Living Services to discuss her article, “The Transformative Potential of Expressive Arts Therapy.” This webinar is a companion to the December 2023 International Journal for Direct Support Professionals issue.
