This week we are pleased to introduce the NADSP’s newest team member, Shane Pasko. Shane will be interning with NADSP throughout the summer and supporting us with research and technology. He has written a blog to introduce himself to our community. Read below to learn more about Shane.

Shane is currently a 21-year-old, non-binary undergraduate from the State University of New York at Purchase, working on getting his Bachelors in Sociology. He uses he/him pronouns and will be graduating this August. As someone who is coming out of college during the COVID-19 crisis, it is a world of unforeseeable futures. Typical questions such as, “where do you see yourself in 5 years” are even harder to answer as 2020 continues to be a year of turmoil and change.  Shane became interested in working with NADSP as an opportunity to learn what it means to be a part of a mission-oriented nonprofit and to gain more professional skills. Shane’s interests lie in social justice and social research. He carries sociological paradigms such as intersectionality and queer theory with him everywhere he goes. He finds these lenses to be crucial in understanding different people’s differing experiences. Shane believes that having this outlook and having a different identity and background from others on our team will allow him to be an important addition.
