Trauma-informed leadership plays a key role in supporting direct support professionals (DSPs) and reducing turnover. Our next virtual training introduces the core elements of trauma-informed leadership, offering practical strategies particularly useful for front-line managers and directors. This training is designed to include individuals at all levels of an organization including but not limited to: DSPs, Supervisors and Administrators.

Presenters

 

Karyn Harvey, PhD.

Karyn Harvey has worked as a clinician in the field of intellectual disabilities for over 35 years. She has her Ph.D. in Applied Developmental Psychology from the University of Maryland.  She has written three books: Positive Identity Development, Trauma –Informed Behavioral Interventions and Trauma and Healing, as well as several chapters in various publications and a variety of articles. She currently has a private practice and does therapy with people with intellectual disabilities. In addition, she regularly conducts trainings on trauma-informed support for people with IDD, trauma-informed leadership, and trauma-informed behavioral interventions for both state and individual organizations throughout the US and Canada.  She has trained numerous trainers throughout the United States and Canada in conducting trauma informed supports training. In the last several years she has received awards for her clinical service from NADD, START and AAIDD.

What do I need for this training?
For this training, attendees will need access to Zoom and a reliable internet connection. Please not there will be breakout rooms for small group exercises.
Will this training be recorded for those who cannot attend?
This training will be conducted completely live. Attendees who have to cancel must do so before the start of the webinar to receive a refund.
Will I receive a certificate for my attendance?
Yes. All registered attendees will receive a certificate at the conclusion of the training.
Will this training count towards my Accredited Training hours?
NADSP trainings like this one can be one source of the accredited education needed for national certification through the NADSP E-Badge Academy. Participants in the E-Badge Academy who wish to submit this training to the E-Badge Academy should document their attendance on the Accredited Education Documentation Form.
