NADSP COVID-19 Vaccine Hesitancy PSAs
The National Alliance for Direct Support Professionals (NADSP) is collaborating with the Institute on Community Integration at the University of Minnesota on producing a number of public service announcements (PSAs) to address COVID-19 vaccine hesitancy among direct support professionals and people with disabilities who are receiving services.
These videos share the message of ‘It’s up to you. Protect yourself and the people you support.’ Below you will find the PSAs that have been produced through the NADSP campaign. Additional PSAs will be listed here as they are released.
The PSAs are a component of NADSP’s COVID-19 Vaccine Hesitancy Campaign. The initiative is part of a cooperative agreement with the Association of University Centers on Disabilities (AUCD), funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
Uwvie, Direct Support Professional, NY
In this PSA we talked with Uwvie, a direct support professional who works in New York City. He describes how getting the COVID-19 vaccine not only protects him, but also the people he supports.
“You think ‘why do I have to get a vaccine? I’m fine.’ You know, it’s not just for you to be to be safe. It’s for everyone to be safe.”
It’s up to you. Protect yourself and the people you support.
B.J. Stasio, Disability Advocate
“I want my DSPs to be vaccinated ’cause I rely on them to live the life that I want and if they’re not healthy then I don’t get the supports I need, and we’re not healthy together.”
B.J. Stasio, a disability advocate, encourages DSPs to get vaccinated, highlighting the impact that vaccinations have on the greater good and the broader community.
It’s up to you. Protect yourself and the people you support.
